The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz

The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz

I didn't pick this up when it was released, not only because I was uneasy with the idea of someone else continuing Stieg Larson's trilogy but also (if I'm honest) because I had memories of not having enjoyed the second and third of the original books as much as the first. The local bookshop this summer, however, did not have much of a choice of books on offer, so I went with it anyway. It took me ages to really get into the book, and by the time I was, it was nearly over. The pacing is really bizarre. All the components of the original books are in there, in fact probably too much of them, it feels like collage at times. Ultimately it was a decent summer read, but not much more. I read the original Larson books too long ago to compare, but this one is certainly not a must read.
