Shadow of the Demon Lord is a fantasy RPG. I kept hearing about it on forums, hailed as the new Warhammer, so I checked it out. In all fairness, it has a lot going for it, but I think there's a heavy dose of gonzo alongside the "dark" mood which would make it tough to emulate Warhammer unless you seriously focused character creation. Having said that, the mechanics are simple and character creation is colourful. The proposed mini-setting is only half-convincing with a few brilliant ideas amidst fantasy clichés. I was a player in a test game and it was fun (but very gonzo, as one-shots are wont to be). Worth checking out if you think the theme (dark fantasy) and system (a much simpler DD5 clone) may be for you.
