The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski
The very idea of non anglo-saxon fantasy is refreshing. The Witcher is super popular these days, and I can kind of see why after reading the first volume in the series. Still, it's not very good. The writing is odd (or maybe the translation from Polish to French is ?) and the whole thing is a smorgasbord of fantasy ideas, some common, some less, with little coherence to it all. It was fun to read, but it's by no means a must.
