Everybody has a plan until the get punched in the mouth by Charlie Hunter

Everybody has a plan until the get punched in the mouth by Charlie Hunter

I've been a long time Charlie Hunter fan, but I have to admit that on some of his albums it feels occasionally like he's coasting. But the last two records, especially that last one, feel like there's a kind of a newfound direction. It's a combination of going back to certain roots sound wise (no effects) and expanding the horizon with the two horns. The pieces don't feel quite as written as on some of the previous albums, but they stretch more musically. EHAPUTGPIM is not one of those records that you get upon first listen. But it's growing on me, and I know that I'm going to revisit this one over and over again. It's a great record.
