Ride the One by Paul Reddick

Ride the One by Paul Reddick

I'd enjoyed Reddick's Rattlebag, a blues rock album that didn't sound like blues rock. In a sense, his latest release is also a blues rock that doesn't sound like blues rock. But it also doesn't sound that good to my ears. It aims for grit (at the detriment of Reddick's lush baritone voice) but ends up overproduced as a consequence. The grit feels artificial and the undeniable musical qualities are drowned in excessive reverbs and grungy saturation. A disappointment.
