Jonathan Creek Season 1
My friend Steve indirectly recommended this series by suggesting it was more Sherlock than Sherlock. The premise is actually more Rouletabille than Sherlock since it's all about apparently unsolvable "locked room" murders. Jonathan (Alan Davis) and Maddy (Caroline Quentin) play off each other reasonably well in this first season and the mysteries are suitably satisfying. I feels dusty and old fashioned, perhaps exacerbated by the lingering string music and some of the decidedly non-modern camera work. But it's fun, so I'm going to keep watching.
