In Absentia by Porcupine Tree
I have to admit that despite my prog rock proclivities, I had completely overlooked Porcupine Tree until a friend recommended In Absentia. Took me a while to remember getting hold of it, and I've now given it a few good listens. It's good stuff, very progressive, very British. I hear some long digested Pink Floyd influences at times, maybe a bit of early Marillion as well, but this is no 70s nostalgia. The sound is modern and heavy, although it alternates with quieter, poppier passages. No tune sticks out yet after a few listens, but I know I'll come back to it.
