The Hot 8 is one of the most interesting of the New Orleans brass band scene, with a bit more of a latin feel than the rest and a killer groove (they are closer in feel to Rebirth with a lot of funk/hip-hop influence than to Dirty Dozen which has more of a soul/jazz vibe). Vicennial is a collection of singles from the early days of the band rerecorded for the occasion and it sounds gorgeous. Not only is the music amazing and exhilarating, but the recording is top notch. Guaranteed to make you shake your booty.
