Ouvert la Nuit

Ouvert la Nuit

Watched this in the plane on a whim. It's a quintessentially French movie (to the point where I think you'd have to be seriously francophile to enjoy it if you're not French). Baer is both playing himself (or at least his public persona) and constantly navigating the fine line between endearingly excentric and so annoying you want to slap him, and that's what makes the movie interesting and compelling. Sabrina Ouazani is really good in her part, a discovery for me. Not the movie of the century, but an enjoyable little slice of Frenchness.
