Thunder Chicken by Papa Mali

I quite enjoyed Papa Mali's Do Your Thing so decided to give this one a spin. If anything, it's better than Do Your Thing, more stripped down. The music could best be described as New Orleans rock. It draws on specific New Orleans beats and there's a definite Louisiana nonchalance to the whole thing, but it's not jazz and doesn't pretend to be. It's not wonder, perhaps, that there's a cover of Dr John's Walk on Guilded Splinters here, as there's a definite kinship with the good doctor's early rock albums. A keeper !
