Friendship by Ray Charles
I've always shied away from Ray Charles' country attempts, because despite my love for Ray's music, my dislike of country is strong. Found this one in a second hand bookstore though, so I thought I'd give it a chance. It's probably not a record that I'll listen to much. Ray has a tendency towards excessive sweetness in arrangements as his carreer progressed and the cost of strings became affordable, and this is a good example of that. In the end, it's not the country that offends, it's the schmaltziness. And the friends invited don't steer him in any other direction.
