False Value by Ben Aaronovitch
I wondered after reading Lies Sleeping where Aaronovitch might take his franchise now that the story arc rooted in the very first novel was closed. False Value gives the impression of more of the same, but if I know Aaronovitch's way of writing, I suspect the seeds of the next story arc are firmly in place after this 8th novel. Also, the world building expansion suggested by the novella October Man seems to grow a little with more involvement from US practitioners in False Value. This latest novel is enjoyable, as is the rest of the series, but perhaps lacks surprise. I fear this is something we'll have to contend with from now on: it's hard for an established and successful author to rock the boat under his flagship series after all. Still, I liked it, and the tech angle was a welcome change of pace.
