I am sad to announce that Philomena Cunk has jumped the shark. I really expected to enjoy this new installment in the adventures of Cunk in the world of documentaries, but it just doesn't work. For one thing, the single one hour episode thing just does not work, the pacing is all wrong. But more fundamentally, much as I love Diane Morgan's character, all the freshness is gone. I guess it was inevitable: no one she interviews now doesn't know who she is, so everything is prepared, if not scripted. Furthermore, the fun in her previous Cunk on... series were the misinterpretations of real historical or other facts. Here, the script tries to make you laugh with one-liners, repetitions and fictional companies. By blurring the line, the franchise has lost the plot. Oh well. It was good while it lasted.
