When Harry met Sally
I hadn't seen this romantic comedy in ages, but as we were looking for some easy family viewing last night we decided it was a good choice. There's no doubt a good chemistry between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in this movie, and Rob Reiner's construction, particularly with the interstitial testimonials by old couples is clever and cute. I can't help but feel that Crystal is a bit too constrained here, but still it's an enjoyable movie. It has to be said though that compared to our reference for romantic comedy, ie. Notting Hill, When Harry met Sally lacks subtlety. Maybe a British vs. American thing?
