Farador

Farador

Within the French speaking roleplaying community, la Bataille de Farador (Battle of Farador) is an infamous youtube short movie from Quebec that is as irreverent and outrageous as it is funny. Roleplayers don't particularly come out well from it, although the guys who made it clearly know and love RPGs. 15 years after the short was released, director Edouard Tremblay funded a full blown movie centered around the same characters (more or less), a group of friends and housemates who have been playing in Charles' game of D&D since they were teens and are now nearing 40. Their life, and their campaign are slowly going down the drain until Charles' sister Kim shows up one day, hoping for a place to stay while she figures out her life... Clearly, this is a movie made with very limited means and lots of love, and while it lacks subtlety, it also tells a cool and real human story, which is more that I expected. Unlikely to appeal to non-roleplayers, but you never know...
