La Venue de l'Avenir
Went to the movies with my wife to see Cédric Klapish's latest movie. The starting point of this story is when a property developer tracks the many descendants of a woman's whose house has lain abandoned for decades. The property developer wants to buy the property, but the living descendants are technically all co-owners, so four of them volunteer to open the house and decide what they want to do. In doing so, they unravel the story of Adèle, the woman who lived there in the 1870s. The movie alternates between the present and a recreation of the past. We meet with numerous historical figures of the Parisian society as Adèle goes to Paris to meet the mother who more or less abandoned her as a baby. It was a very enjoyable movie although it lacked a bit of rhythm in my opinion. There are great moments, but overall it's not super memorable.
