My Neighbours the Yamada
A friend recommended this movie in the early 2000s, and we had never seen it. We watched it as a family last week and absolutely adored it. It's cute, funny, very Japanese and resonates in a strangely universal way. The movie is centred on the Yamada family, which is one grandmother, the parents and their two kids. It depicts short slices of their lives in ways that are both funny and moving. Graphically, it's wonderful as well, very poetic and unlike any other anima I've seen. Beautiful.
