Qualified by Joe Krown Trio +1
There
are probably many New Orleans piano players I haven't heard of, so
maybe it's no surprise Joe Krown was new to me. Qualified came on my
radar because I quite like Papa Mali, so I decided to purchase this
particular album. It's a very pleasant listen, in fine New Orleans
tradition. It is an area where the legacy is so heavy that it's hard for
something to sound truly original, and truth be told, Qualified
doesn't. But while Krown may not have the flair of a James Booker,
there's an organic feel to this album that makes me come back to it
repeatedly. Good stuff.
