Thrillerville by Lerenard & Puvilland
It was a review by Gulix that drew me to this wacky rural thriller somehow improbably reminiscent of Twin Peaks, but much funnier. Add a good dollop of Québec to the mix and you've got a winning graphic novel. Very funny, very unusual, and yet all the tropes are familiar. The small rural town of Tranquilleville, dubbed Thrillerville by the locals is home to a sasquatch, a strong woman who can't be beaten at arm wrestling, a creature at the bottom of the lake, many drunks and crooked characters... And when a serial killer escapes from prison to wreak murderous revenge on those who got him imprisoned, all hell breaks loose. I had a lot of fun reading Thrillerville, highly recommended, although probably better in French.
