Travel Man

Travel Man is a show with a worn out concept. It's originality (and fun) is due solely to its lead protagonist: Richard Ayoade and one guest leave for a week-end to a touristy destination, and review the experience. Or at least on paper, they do. In practice, Ayoade (or the alter-ego he plays on Travel Man) eis the unlikeliest tourist, blasé, disinterested and cynical. Which generates a rather funny disconnect. At times, he sounds like my teenage son when we force him to visit temples and museums. It's not by any means a masterpiece, but as entertainment goes, it's not half fun.
