The Jennifer Morgue by Charles Stross
I wasn't impressed by The Atrocity Archives (the first Laundry book) when I read it but several friends told me things really picked up with The Jennifer Morgue. Well I wasn't impressed by that either. In fact I struggled to finish the book. On paper it should have everything to please me but I guess it's simply too wacky for my taste. Doesn't make me laugh, I don't find it geeky cool, and it doesn't instill a sense of horror either. Guess I'll stop there with Stross' work.
