Blicher Hemmer Gadd live at the HK Arts Center
I don't get to see much live jazz over here (or much of any decent live music, to tell the truth) so I go to see whatever sounds promising even if I don't know the protagonists. Blicher Hemmer Gadd is an organ trio with a sax instead of a guitar. There's a strong soul/gospel vibe in the arrangements, so it's not adventurous jazz. But it's very pleasant and thrilling at times, which made for a nice concert. I would have liked a bit more band interaction (it felt very rehearsed to me) and live wildness, but still, it was a good night. It would have been near perfect if the French woman sitting just in front of me hadn't worn a half-liter of perfume, but the band is hardly to blame for that.
