It's not us by Umphrey's McGee

It's not us by Umphrey's McGee

My first listen of It's Not Us left me baffled and frustrated. I decided to give it a rest and come back to the album later to form a better opinion. The second listen was, if anything, more dissapointing. Gone is the ambitious UMG of Mantis, offering complex compositions full of atmosphere. Gone is the freewheeling UMG of Anchor Drops, exploring jam formats within the constraint of a studio recording. In other words, Umphrey's McGee couldn't have named this overproduced radio tailored pop-rock record better: it's not them. Massive dissapointment.
