Moon over Soho by Ben Aaronovitch

Moon over Soho by Ben Aaronovitch

This second installment of the Rivers of London series deepens the background and puts forward a mystery (or rather a set of intertwined mysteries) that hit rather close to home for Peter Grant, our main character and magic copper (to simplify things). Jazz musicians are dying in drones, and the grisly emasculation murders that started at the end of the previous opus continue apace. There's a big revelation that will have long lasting implications in the series at the end. Reading it a second time, you see how the sauce is made, to some extent, and there is a formulaic aspect to these books to some extent, but it's still very pleasant to read.
