La Mélodie

La Mélodie

This story of the "redemption" of Inner City kids through music had the potential of being both corny and heavy, but La Mélodie manages to navigate between these two and in the end if both moving and uplifting. Kar Merad is amazingly convincing in this role of a dour violin teacher who takes on a class of inner city kids to try to push them towards excellence (or at least a decent performance). The kids are no less impressive in their playing, with a lot of freshness and a lot of depth at the same time. Thoroughly enjoyable.
