Les Eclaireurs by Antoine Bello

Les Eclaireurs by Antoine Bello

The second volume in this series of three. I think I read it when it first came out but remembered very little. There's still a lot of naiveté going on here, but the themes become darker as the action is set around 9/11 and the US response in Afghanistan and Irak. With at its core a theme of falsification (for the greater good), the series asks some big questions. You have to suspend disbelief, because many things are stretched at best, and plot isn't as solid as you'd like (Bello is no Eco) but it's a fantastic summer read and a notch above others in that category because of the themes involved. Let's say that on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is Dan Brown and 10 is Umberto Eco this is a 6.
