Skizra by Amsterdam Klezmer Band and Söndörgö

I love the AKB's music, but if I'm honest it's sometimes hard to tell one album from the next. They have a hard time renewing themselves, and their attempts to do so are not always successful. Skizra is both a return to their core Eastern European klezmer roots and a departure since it's a collaboration with Oriental Gypsy band Söndörgö. Sonically speaking, the introduction of string instruments (especially the cymbalum) and percussions adds a lot, conveying a harder drive to many of the pieces. The blend is marvelous, and it is a blend, not just a juxtaposition. Really worth a listen if you're into those kinds of musics.
