Une Si Jolie Petite Guerre by Marcelino Truong

Une Si Jolie Petite Guerre by Marcelino Truong

This graphic novel (Such a Lovely Little War in English) tells the story of the early years of the Vietnam war, after the French had left and before the Americans came in in full force. It's seen through the eyes of the young author, 6 or 7 at the time and living in Saïgon. Son of a French mother and Vietnamese father, he strives to retell the atmosphere of Saïgon in those days and manages, very successfully, to navigate between the larger events of the day and his recollections as a kid. Very endearing as well as educational. There's a second volume which I will now hunt down.
