Emma by Kaoru Mori

Emma by Kaoru Mori

Mori's Bride Stories is one of my favourite if not my absolute favourite manga, so I decided to give her earlier Emma a try. The set-up is very different (19th century Victorian London vs. 19th Century Caucasian Steppes) but the approach is somewhat similar, a mix of romance and anthropolohical comic writing. Still, as steeped in historical Victorian era as this is, the romance takes over and... I'm just not all that interested in Romance for Romance's sake. I feel like the love tribulations of a couple from widely different social status isn't exactly new ground, and as cute as Mori's characters are, I just couldn't get really interested. If you're into that kind of things though, I suspect it's really worth reading.
