Hungry People by Rabih Abou-Khalil

Hungry People by Rabih Abou-Khalil

When Rabih Abou-Khalil doesn't radically change his line-up (like in Em Portugues) there's a certain unity, a certain formula, to his music. The partial line-up changes spice things up to some extent, but in that respect Hungry People doesn't particularly stand out from say The Cactus of Knowledge or Songs for Sad Women. Having said that, there's a spring in the step to Hungry People that I hadn't heard in a while, it grooves, perhaps, more than previous albums. Gavino Murgia occasionally lays his fantastically disturbing vocal meanderings which adds a little chili to the mix. Overall a good album, if not one particularly out of line with Rabih's output.
