The Greatest Showman
I walked into this not knowing it was a musical. A movie about the life of PT Barnum seemed interesting to me, a musical about it I might not have gone to. Ultimately, what disturbed me was not so much the songs as the arrangements. These are pop tunes with little going for them, and the very shallowness and modern popness of the music jars with the period and theme of the movie. There's a lot that's visually spectacular, and the actors are good in their roles, but ultimately I could never get immersed and wouldn't recommend it.
