Nanette by Hannah Gadsby
This stand-up comedy special came highly recommended... and should be compulsory viewing. Hannah Gadsby talks about discovering she was gay as a youth in a community that hated gays, and the impact on her own sense of self-worth. You would think that was not a great theme for comedy, and actually you'd be right. Her show is fantastic, eye-opening, gut-wrenching... But it's not funny. In fact she herself explains why all the way through. So as I said, should be compulsory viewing, just don't expect to be in stitches.
