I'm a sort of nut when it comes to Monty Python related material. I read nearly every book I could put my hands on, and watched every documentary under the sky. I really enjoyed the early parts of Palin's journals, and was somewhat disappointed with John Cleese's autobiography, so I didn't expect too much of Eric Idle's and that's probably just as well. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun read, but it's pretty inconsequential when it comes down to it. Lots of fun anecdotes and a mostly cheerful tone throughout (very much the opposite of Cleese's bitter humour), but in the end, there's very little in there I didn't already know. Diminishing returns, I guess. If you don't know much about the Pythons and like Idle's cheerful nature, then you're likely to enjoy this more than I did.
