Les Ignorants by Etienne Davodeau
A decade or so ago, Davodeau released a documentary graphic novel about organic farmers called Rural. This big book is in a similar vein although perhaps with less militancy (or less obvious anyway). The starting point is him and an organic winemaker who decide to initiate the other to their craft. So Davodeau spends a year making wine with Richard Leroy, and all the while helps him hone his tastes in graphic novels and involves him in the process of making the very book that I read. It's a really pleasant ride, full of humanity and interesting moments. I know nothing about wine and it's not a topic I'm keen to pursue (even after reading this) but the process that drives Leroy is fascinating to understand.
