Monk! by Youssef Daoudi
Monk! is an odd and wonderful graphic novel exploring the relationship between Thelonious Monk and his muse and protector Pannonica de Koenigswarter. Graphically superb and daring, trying to capture the freeflowing oddity of Monk's music in graphical form. There's a sentence in there (attributed to Monk): "talking about music is like dancing about architecture". And yet, Youssef Daoudi genuinely captures something here of the free spirit of Monk. I need to go listen to those records again now. Highly recommended if you're into Jazz.
