The Late Show by Michael Connelly

The Late Show by Michael Connelly

I've definitely read too many Connelly's, and the last few Harry Bosch stories just didn't work for me. I was a little reluctant with The Late Show but since the lead character is a new one, I thought I'd give it a go. I was worried at first, seeing many of Connelly's old tricks both in writing, pacing and character design. But the story finally took over and I read the second half in one long sitting and felt the ending was satisfactory. Truth be told, Renée Ballard is mostly a female Harry Bosch with similar methods and a similarly obsessive personality, but the story is strong and believable. A good crime novel.
