Why didn't they ask Evans?

I love Agatha Christie, I love Hugh Laurie, so an adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel made by Hugh Laurie seemed like a perfect match. Three one hour episodes, BBC style (And then there were none and the ABC murders got a similar treatment over the years). There's a lot to like in this mini-series, starting with the sparkles between the two leads, Will Poulter (Bobby) and Lucy Boynton (Frankie). A man is found by Bobby at the bottom of a seaside cliff, and that first death starts the whole mystery. Bobby and Frankie (reluctantly at first, and then more enthusiastically) investigate and meet a rather large cast of characters, many of which are suspicious. Emma Thompson and Hugh Laurie have brief cameos, only Stephen Fry is missing. The tone is rather light, certainly nothing like the sinister feel of the "And then there were none" adaptation. It's a fun bit of viewing, but ultimately the social contract of the whodunnit isn't followed since nothing in the first 130 minutes of viewing can give you the faintest clue as to the conclusion. Still, I enjoyed myself.
