Ballades de Camille Potte
My son recommended this one, and I have to say it was a good recommendation even if I was very skeptical about the artwork. It reminded me of a modernised version of Mandryka or Brétécher (or both), styles I've never really enjoyed. The miracle of Ballades though is primarily in the dialogue. It's a folk tale of sorts, with a tyrannical local baronnet being changed into a frog and trying to get back to the top. the dialogues are all in a sort of faux old French, which makes everything brilliantly hilarious. The story is also a little deeper than it seems at first glance. Very cool, one I'll read again for sure.
