Live..Washington 1993 by Buddy Guy

Live..Washington 1993 by Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy was such an important discovery in my musical life. I first saw him live in 1995 (I think it was) in Birmingham, and that concert absolutely blew my mind and plunged me into a frantic exploration of blues. Buddy's most recent albums aren't of much interest, and the last time I saw him live was a bitter disappointment (he was 90 at the time and his fingers aren't there the way they used to be) but when I saw this record from a 1993 live, I thought I'd give it a try. I was hoping for a good sound quality radio recording, but it's quite rough. It's intense at times in a way that does remind me of Buddy live in the 90s and early 2000s, but all in all, it's not a mindblowing live like The Real Deal that came out a few years later. A good listen for completists.
