Don't Point That Thing At Me by Kyril Bonfiglioli
I can't remember quite when I heard about the Mortdecai novels, but I know it was before the movie was released because then they were out of print and stupidly expensive. I recently got my hands on the first one and... it's a bit of a disappointment. There's a strong Wodehouse vibe in the main character and narrator Charlie Mortdecai, and intellectually I get that the humour comes from his oh so british retelling of somewhat horrid events. But I just couldn't care for what was happening to him. I guess I'm not a good customer for style over story. I might give the second volume a chance, but it's not high on my list of priorities.
