Mr. Holmes
I watched Mr. Holmes in the plane, so maybe not the best of conditions which might explain why I watched in two installments (half leaving Shanghai and half coming back). I'm a sucker for Holmes adaptations and expansions faithful to the canon (begone, Guy Ritchie) and this one certainly is faithful although it's overall theme (Sherlock's lack of empathy) is not one I've seen covered before. The movie is slow and features limited sleuthing, but it's a good movie, with stellar performances by Ian McKellen and the actor who plays little Roger (actually I wondered if Roger wasn't supposed to be a real life writer, but I lacked the cultural background to know who. Does anyone know ?)
