Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine

My good friend Lori told me about this book and I've now read it. It's basically a collection of articles written by Douglas Adams about expeditions with Zoologist Mark Carwardine aimed at seeing species that are on the verge of extinction. They go from Madagascar (to see the Aye-Aye Lemur) to Zaire (to see the White Rhinos) to China (to see the Yangze Dolphins) to... well you get the idea. It's a really pleasant book, Adams' witty writing somewhat counterbalanced by the gravity of the subject matter. Without pontificating, he gets the reader to really think about how much we are irretrievably destroying just by being human...
