The Long Mars by Baxter and Pratchett

The Long Mars by Baxter and Pratchett

This is the third installment in this odd sci-fi series, and while I continue to enjoy reading it, it's downsides haven't changed: the recurring characters are unappealing, there's little to no plot and (in this third volume) there's a fair bit of repetition from the previous volumes. What keeps me coming back is the concepts. Here the Gap Earth (one of the parallel earths where the earth has been destroyed) is used to launch a space mission to Mars and explore the parallel Marses. Also, some humans start evolving real fast as a consequence (apparently) of stepping. How does the scattered society of the Long Earth face these challenges is what this third book is about. Worth it if you enjoyed the first two.
