Le Sentier des Astres 1 - Manesh by Steffan Platteau
This was presented to me by several friends as a masterpiece of French speaking fantasy. While I enjoyed the book, I found it incredibly long winded for the story it actually tells. There's no doubt that Platteau writes wonderfully, but I need story to feed my soul, even (or especially) in fantasy, and the story here, while clever, is thin and could probably have been told in half as many pages. I'm not sure I'll keep going in this series if the pace is the same going forward...
