Cosplay by Laurent Ladouari
I've had this book on my 'to read' pile for a good two years and only got to it in the last few weeks. It's an odd beast, not really SciFi although there are semi futuristic elements, not really fantasy although most of it happens in a VR game that feels very fantastic indeed. At its heart, Cosplay is about corporate life and how anonymity and factual information breaks down the barriers of civil behaviour in a company. But that sounds too serious for a novel that is more playful than I expected. It's been republished in paperback with a new title, Adamas, Maitre du Jeu and there's a follow-up, L'Or des Malatesta, which I think I'll try. Don't expect to be blown away, but if you're after a pleasant, fun and unusual read (in French).
