The 22 episode format of US TV shows is a plague. Case in point, this season 4 of Person of Interest. S1 was very formulaic, but S2 and S3 managed to build a story arc that culminated with a big apparent shift in the show's structure at the end of S3. Unfortunately, within three episodes of Season 4, we were back into formulaic territory, as if nothing had happened (more or less). There are a few excellent episodes amongst the chaff, but not enough to keep the interest up all the way. The end of the season is good, and back on track, but what a drag to get there. All in all not a good season. S5 is only a dozen episodes or so, and ends the show, so I'll watch it, but S4 didn't encourage me much...
