Blues for myself by the Tete Montoliu Trio
I really enjoyed Tete Montoliu's style alongside Roland Kirk on the Copenhagen Concert so I decided to give a chance to his headliner work. Blues for Myself is on the bluesy side of jazz, but more like Bill Evans is on the bluesy side than how Gene Harris or Junior Mance are. It's more of an intellectual approach to blues. As such, it's super pleasant, but doesn't quite demonstrate a depth of soul that I crave. A fine listen, but not memorable to these ears.
