Funny Girl by Nick Hornby
I enjoy Nick Hornby's novels. I mean, they're never earth shattering, they're the book equivalent of a good romantic comedy, but they are a joy to read. Such is Funny Girl, a story set in the 60s as a Northern girl comes down to London hoping to make it as a comedian and... makes it as a comedian! It's an easy read, like a bag of sweets really, but once in a while it's OK to treat yourself.
