Kaïros by Raphaël Herlem Quintet

Kaïros by Raphaël Herlem Quintet

I first discovered the Raphaël Herlem Quintet through a fiend's recommendation. Their first EP was good but green. Kaïros is much more mature and the quintet is truly in command. Great chops, good writing, this is very excellent funk-jazz. It doesn't revolutionise the genre, but the combination of barytone sax and chromatic harmonica is not one you hear every day and brings something pleasantly distinctive. Recommended if jazz and/or fusion are your bag.
