Radical Action To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind by King Crimson

Radical Action To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind by King Crimson

This is the latest mammoth live King Crimson CD+DVD. As all works supervised by Robert Fripp, it's technical qualities are faultless. More importantly though, the music is compelling and the oddly unbalanced line-up (with no less than three drummers) manages to breathe fresh life into a lot of these old gems. The repertoire ranges from the earliest King Crimson albums to the most recent with many songs I'd never heard before (I'm not yet a KC completist). The only era that seems entirely overlooked is the Discipline albums from the early 80s, which is a shame in some sense, but also allows for more unity. This is by no means easy listening, King Crimson's music was ever ambitious, but it is superb and has opened new avenues of listening in some of the pieces I knew. I'll be revisiting this one often, I think.
